Comics
US comics publisher Dark Horse Comics produced both original
story comic books and graphic
novellas that detail new stories from The Clone Wars.
Featuring artwork reminiscent of the animated series, the 12-issue comic
book series stories were written by Henry Gilroy, head writer
for The Clone Wars animated series, while the ongoing The
Clone Wars Quarterly series of graphic novellas features
stand-alone stories written by selected Star Wars comics
authors.
To accompany each episode of the first
season of The Clone Wars animated TV series (2008-2009),
StarWars.com published online a short comic story, written by Pablo
Hidalgo, that acted as a prelude to each episode and as such were
not stand-alone stories. They were later collated into a printed
graphic novel titled Tales from The Clone Wars Volume 1
(published 2010 by Dreams & Vision Press).
For the second (2009-2010) and third
(2010-2011) seasons, StarWars.com published complete stand-alone
stories, Act on Instinct and The
Valsedian Operation. There was no such story to accompany the
fourth (2011-2012) and fifth (2012-2013) seasons.
In November 2009, Titan Comics in the UK
began publishing original 8-page comic stories in their monthly Star
Wars: The Clone Wars Comic. It ran for a total of 54 issues,
coming to an end in December 2013 when it was replaced by a new
comic series, Star Wars Comic. This comic title
rpublished original The Clone Wars
comic tales periodically but came to an end in December 2014 when
Titan Comics lost their license to publish in
the UK. In October 2010, Titan
Magazines began republishing their UK comic stories in the US in
their bi-monthly Star Wars: The Clone Wars Magazine.
It ran for 22 issues before being retitled as Star Wars
Magazine in April 2014 (coinciding with retitling of
UK Star Wars Comic) - this new title only
ran for three issues before being cancelled. |

Comics published by Titan Magazines (US)
In October 2010, Titan Magazines began
republishing their UK comic stories in the US in their bi-monthly Star
Wars: The Clone Wars Magazine. Following the cancellation of
The Clone Wars animated TV series Titan Magazines rebranded
The Clone Wars Magazine as Star Wars Magazine.
As before it contains reprints of comic tales first published in UK's Star Wars
Comic but these stories are now from across the Star Wars
saga, not just The Clone Wars, so not all issues necessarily contain a
comic tale from
The Clone Wars era. |
