Darth Maul WILL return - in
new comic stories
With the imminent return of
Darth Maul in The Clone Wars TV series, comics publisher
Dark Horse Comics has announced that the Sith warrior
will return in comic book form. On their blog ,
Dark
Horse Comics' editor Randy Stradley announced that they
are producing two comic stories featuring Maul:
By now every Star Wars fan has heard the news: Darth Maul is coming back!
By the end of Season 4 of The Clone Wars, everybody’s second favorite Sith Apprentice will have taken his first steps on his path of vengeance, to be continued in Season 5, next fall. But while the TV series will tell the beginning of Maul’s unholy return, there are stories to be told which take place between the end of Season 4 and the start of Season 5. That’s where Dark Horse comes in.
I first spoke to director Dave Filoni about the idea of telling a story between seasons almost two years ago, when the plans for Maul’s return were revealed to the Star Wars licensees at a meeting at Skywalker Ranch. Dave was receptive to the idea -- so receptive, in fact, that he took time out of his busy schedule with the show to confer with writers Henry Gilroy and Steven Melching on their story The Sith Hunters, and to paint a cover for that digest volume of The Clone Wars! The graphic novella will be in comics shops and bookstores in August.
Randy went on to write:
But that’s not all! Also in the works is a four-issue Darth Maul series being written by Tom Taylor (Star Wars: Blood Ties and Star Wars: Invasion)! We’ll have more information about that in the near future.
In the meantime, run to your local theater and catch The Phantom Menace in 3-D, watch The Clone Wars for Darth Maul’s return, and prepare yourself for the Year of Maul!

Fans' Favourites 2011 -
The Results
During December last year and
January this year we asked our visitors to
vote for their favourite Star Wars books of 2011. Visitors were
asked to vote in three
categories: favourite novel/novella
(published during 2011), favourite comic book story
(published and/or concluded in 2011) and favourite non-fiction title
(published in 2011) and Star Wars Books are proud to
announce the results.
- Favourite novel/novella - The
Old Republic: Deceived by Paul S. Kemp
Just as in 2010
Fans' Favourite poll, tie-ins to The
Old Republic were the most popular novel/novella with both The
Old Republic novels published in 2011, Deceived
(#1) by Paul S. Kemp and Revan
(#2) by Drew Karpyshyn, accounting for nearly two-fifths of all
votes cast. While of the other on-going series, Fate
of the Jedi, the two novels in that series published last
year, Conviction (#5)
by Aaron Allston and Ascension
(#3) by Christie Golden, managed between them just over
one-fifth of all votes cast.
- Favourite comic book story - Darth
Vader & the Lost Command by Haden Blackman et al.
Haden Blackman's Vader comic story was the most popular comic
story from last year with 28% of votes cast. Clearly Tom Taylor
(and artist Colin Wilson) Invasion
story is still as popular as it was in 2010
as the third instalment, Revelations,
matched the #2 position that Rescues
achieved in 2010.
- Favourite non-fiction title - Star
Wars Craft Book by Bonnie Burton
A clear winner was Bonnie Burton's Craft
Book - perhaps thanks to a tweeted message from its
author(?) - with over 50% of all votes cast. Worthy runners-up
are Ryder Windham and Pete Vilmur's The
Complete Vader (#2) and Millennium Falcon Owner's
Workshop Manual (#3) from Haynes.
With over 400 votes cast we would like to thank
all those visitors who voted for their favourite Star Wars books of
2011. The full results can be found here.

The
Force Unleashed II (Comic story)
By Haden Blackman et al.

I have both the game and the comic book. When I got the comic book when the game first came out,
I really like it. I liked how they told the story from Boba Fett's point of view. I especially like how they expanded on as to why Boba did not take his shot at
Starkiller. It showed him to be sympathetic for the time. |

A very interesting story by far. It's show how the great sith warrior
Darth Maul was unleashed before Episode I. It showed him to be a very strong creature of the dark side. It showed his devotion to Darth Sidious to unrelenting and that nothing nor no one can stop Darth Maul. This story showed him to be a unstoppable
cannon. |

A very interesting story [...] interesting to see Boba do something nice for one once that did not involve him killing or torturing someone like we have seen and read in the movies
[...] a compassionate human side to the great Boba Fett... read
