Tim Zahn's manuscript came in and I have to

now titled

Tentative title for Nomi Sunrider
novel:
Posted: 5th September
As widely reported, author Alex Irvine has
announced via his blog
that his first Star Wars novel has the "tentative"
title of Mandorla. As for the potential meaning of
mandorla, leaving aside any possible linguistic similarities to
Mandalore/Mandalorian, both ClubJade.net
and EUCantina.net
note its principle definition within religious iconography, although
EUCantina also note its other meaning: it can "symbolize
the interactions and interdependence of opposing worlds and forces".
This alternative definition ties in nicely to what little-known
facts there are about Irvine's first Star Wars novel, as TheForce.net
recollect: it will "develop the relationship between Nomi
and Vima Sunrider and involves a resurgent threat from Sith and
Mandalorian forces. Plus I introduce a new character that I’m
really enjoying, a sort of interstellar scavenger who runs across
some artifacts that are a little more than he can handle".
Mandorla is stated as occurring approximately 3980
years before the Battle of Yavin (about a decade after the events of
the Tales of the Jedi
comics where Nomi and Vima first appeared). It is due for release in
hardcover on December 31st 2011 in the US.
UPDATE:
Posted: 7th September
Alex Irvine has made the following comment on his blog
regarding the internet furore over the tentative title of his first
Star Wars novel:
On Titles and Thinking Out Loud
I see that my maundering about a possible title for the Star Wars
book has caused more of a ripple than I'd expected, or intended.
Just so we're clear: That's not anything like a final title. That
was me thinking out loud. No telling yet what the final title of
the book will be.
Apologies if I've given a different impression...

New children's books from DK for
2011:
Posted: 4th September
Amazon.com has listed several new
children's titles from DK Publishing due next year. Although
listings lack content information, they are educational DK Reader
style books for young children:
Also listed by Amazon.com for release on
18th April 2011 (US release) was Star Wars: Visual Dictionary
of Characters (208 pages, hardback )
and Ultimate
Sticker Collection: Star Wars The Clone Wars: Secrets of the Force
(96 pages, softback ).
Again no content information is available for these titles, but the
former looks to be similar to DK Publishing's previous Visual
Dictionary range of books such as The
Complete Visual Dictionary (2006) and their dictionaries for
Episode I
(1999), Episode
II (2002) and Episode
III (2005). While the latter is certainly an addition to The
Ultimate Sticker Collection (February 2009) and Ultimate
Battles Sticker Collection (July 2009). |
